David Devos and Caroline Moreau are in the running for this prize, organised by the European Patent Office, alongside other leading European inventors. The winners will be announced at an official ceremony in Malta on 9 July 2024. The innovation of the two Lille-based scientists consists of a pump that delivers dopamine directly into the brains of Parkinson’s patients, thereby considerably reducing the symptoms of the disease. This innovation has the potential to dramatically improve the quality of life of the millions of people around the world affected by Parkinson’s disease.

The two co-founders of InBrain Pharma, supported by the University of Lille Foundation, hope that their treatment will soon be available to patients. Phase 3 clinical trials are currently underway, and if the results are conclusive, the therapy could be approved for use in Europe and the United States within the next few years.
